Parrot Communications has been a leading fulfillment provider for major TV and cable networks for the last 31 years. FOX, Disney ABC, NBC Universal, and Discovery (to name a few) trust us as their one-stop fulfillment house for their distribution needs. We specialize in the assembly and distribution of PR materials, DVD/Blu-ray/USB replication, warehousing, print and copy services, and bulk mailings.
Parrot Communications began business on February 8, 1981 as a TV production company. During Parrot's first year of operation, it was forced into TV syndication as a sheer matter of survival. Robert Mertz, Parrot founder, quickly understood the need for a computerized TV station contact list, and set about assembling and databasing this information. Upon completion, he printed a "Dreambook" containing every TV station with their addresses, phone numbers and key personnel.
While using this "Dreambook" in house for the next 2 years, a number of TV station salespeople were shown this handy sales tool. Their every positive reaction to the book prompted the publication of Parrot's 1st U.S. TV STATION DIRECTORY (dubbed PARROT'S TV DREAMBOOK) in March, 1983. The book promptly sold out its initial press run. Parrot's U.S. TV STATION DIRECTORY has been published quarterly ever since.
Parrot took advantage of the new personal computer technology to expand into mailing and promotional fulfillment as well as database management services. In 1984, Parrot established itself as the leading edge provider of electronic messaging services (broadcast telex/twx and subsequently fax services). As the eighties progressed, Parrot added radio, cable, newspapers, advertising agencies, and international television to its list of database directories catering to the media industry. Parrot's customer base grew to include every major television studio, producer and syndicator in the U.S.
At N.A.T.P.E. in 1986, Parrot premiered "Parnet", a bulletin-board on-line listing of the various information and personnel contained in Parrot's directory. In 1993, Parrot saw that the infantile Internet provided the ideal delivery systems for its information and began work on PARROT MEDIA NETWORK.
PARROT MEDIA NETWORK (www.parrotmedia.com) was launched at the N.A.B. convention in Las Vegas on April 15, 1996. Over the next 18 months, as a free service, PARROT MEDIA NETWORK grew to an astounding 30,000 hits per day! In October 1997 it converted to a paid subscription service.
Parrot is still trailblazing the electronic frontier, providing digital archiving and dissemination of TV program and other media information. As we approach the new millennium, Parrot remains on the forefront of electronic database, communication, fulfillment and entertainment services.
